Korean woman murdered

JAKARTA (JP): A South Korean woman, Kang Syun H., 31, was found dying at her home in Block H of the Graha Mutiara housing complex in Bekasi on Saturday, police said on Sunday.

City Police member of staff Kohar said the victim was found still alive at her home, but with very severe bruising to her legs, back, hands and knees.

Kohar said the first person to find the victim was Chung Kyun Yong, another Korean national who reportedly worked with the victim at a garment firm, PT Odyssey.

Chung contacted Iwan, an Indonesian who worked for the victim, at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and told him that Mrs. Kang had been hurt and needed to be brought to the hospital.

On the way to a hospital in Bekasi, the victim died, Kohar said.

"According to what Iwan told police, Chung and the victim often fought, almost every night. Police are investigating the case," Kohar said.

A forensic specialist at the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Mun'im Idries, said on Sunday that Kang's husband, whom Mun'im did not name, had told him that Kang had suffered a very bad fall.

"I don't think so. This looks like a deliberate killing. She had a badly fractured skull and the bruises all over her body indicate that this was a deliberate killing, after being physically abused," Mun'im said. (ylt)
