Korean investor to build water system

MUARA TEWEH, Central Kalimantan: A South Korean investor will develop a potable water system in Muara Teweh, North Barito regency in Central Kalimantan province next year, said North Barito Regent Achmad Yuliansyah.

The Korean investor, in cooperation with PT Sumber Abadi Sejahtera in Surabaya, East Java, will soon conduct a feasibility study on the water system, Yuliansyah said on Sunday during a visit to Surabaya.

The regent's visit to East Java was aimed at obtaining firsthand information on Sumber Abadi's involvement in the project. He said the two investors would look into local people's water needs as well as distribution requirements.

"Infrastructure and other supporting facilities will be built," he said, adding that local people currently drew water from artesian wells to meet their needs. -- Antara
