Kontras receives police abuse report

JAKARTA: The Commission for Missing Person and Victims of Violence (Kontras) received on Wednesday a report that a detainee died after being abused by the police.

Ibnu Hajar, who was detained on July 20 on criminal allegations, was reportedly healthy when his wife visited him the morning after his detention.

But at 11.30 p.m. that night, Ibnu was found dead in his cell. His body was allegedly covered with bruises and he was bleeding from his head.

Kontras called on the police on Wednesday to investigate the death. -- JP
