KONI wants Rp 12.7b for SEA Games
JAKARTA (JP): The National Sports Council (KONI) will ask for Rp 12.7 billion from the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) to enable it to prepare for the 20th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Brunei Darussalam in August.
Sudharno, deputy chief of KONI's budget and planning section, announced on Tuesday that the amount included Rp 5.5 billion for training and the remaining Rp 7.2 billion for the athletes' accommodation.
"Bappenas had agreed to give Rp 5.5 billion. We are asking for another Rp 7.2 billion to send to Brunei a contingent of 585, including 390 athletes," he said.
He said that KONI would only send key athletes for 20 sports competed in the Games for economical reason. He said that athletes and coaches needed Rp 1.5 million each for training and the each athlete would spend US$240 for 12 days accommodation in Brunei. (ivy)
