Khatulistiwa announces long list

The prestigious Khatulistiwa Literary Award was established in
2000 by QB World Books in association with Plaza Senaya, and is a
national, annual award dedicated to honoring and developing
exemplary Indonesian literature.

Now in its fifth year, the 2004-
2005 award covers those works published between June 1, 2004 and
May 30, 2005, and comprises two categories, prose and poetry. The
award is sponsored by publishing companies as well as Indonesian
and foreign corporations, such as the Gramedia Group and
Ernst&Young. Final selection will be conducted in September, with
cash prizes of Rp 100 million for prose and Rp 50 million for
