KGC construction goes on

JAKARTA: PT Persada Gading Elok, the construction company for the Kelapa Gading Center, will improve the center's design and increase the foundation height to 4.2 meters in order to avoid floods that might hit the capital in the future.

Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta, which is considered to be one of the most elite areas in the city, was inundated by up to 1.5 meters of water in the three weeks of flooding which began in late January.

Many residents have reportedly decided to sell their houses to avoid the problem in the future.

PT Persada Gading Elok said in its release that the center's construction was expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The center will also cooperate with the Matahari Group, one of the biggest retail chains in the country, to open the supermarket as an anchor tenant along with the Time Zone gaming center. -- Antara
