Kerosene shortage hits Bogor

BOGOR: Hundreds of residents in Bogor regency have complained about the scarcity of kerosene because many vendors have not returned from their hometowns.

Meti, a resident of Karadenan village, Cibinong district, said Tuesday that she had been unable to locate any vendors in her village since two days before the Idul Fitri holiday. Therefore, she had to buy kerosene from the cooperative at the military office in Ciluar village. She usually bought five liters, but this time bought 10, at Rp 1,000 per liter, as she was afraid that the shortage would continue.

Zulkifli, a resident of Situ Udik, Cibungbulang village, said that before Idul Fitri a liter of kerosene cost Rp 1,700. "Now it is Rp 1,500 per liter but there is no supply," he grumbled.

According to Yati, a supplier of kerosene in Cinangneng village, Ciampea district, a liter of kerosene in the area was available at Rp 1,300 to Rp 1,500 per liter. --JP
