Kerosene scarce in Cilacap

CILACAP, Central Java: Kerosene has become scarce in retail
outlets in Cilacap regency, Central Java, where state oil and gas
company Pertamina's fuel refinery plant is located.

Because of the scarcity, kerosene prices have soared to
between Rp 800 and Rp 900 per liter on Monday, from Rp 550 per
liter as stipulated by the government for the area.

The spokesman of Pertamina's Production Unit IV in Cilacap,
Husni Banser, told The Jakarta Post on Monday that he did not
know yet what had caused the scarcity of kerosene.

He said the Cilacap refinery plant had not reduced its
kerosene output, which averaged 10,656 kilo liters per day.

The shortage of kerosene had also affected other areas around
Cilacap like Purwokerto and Purbalingga. (45)
