Kendari to have new rector

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: A total of 19 rectorial
candidates are taking part in the race for the rectorship in Halu
Oleo University in Kendari, the capital of Southeast Sulawesi
province, for the 2004 to 2008 period.

Candidates include Mahmud Hamundu, the incumbent rector of
Halu Oleo and Faad Maonde, a deputy rector of the university.

"The two have registered in the rectorial election and they
have filled and returned their registration documents," said Nur
Arafah, the chairman of rectorial election committee, on
Wednesday.

After all rectorial candidates return the registration papers,
the next step for them is to convey their mission and vision to
contest the post, said Nur Arafah.

Patta Nasrah, spokesman of the university, said that the
election would be held on Saturday when members of the
university's senate would convene and cast their vote. -- JP
