Kemang festival held on Saturday

JAKARTA: For the second time, the South Jakarta mayoralty will hold the annual Kemang Festival on Saturday in commemoration of the 475th anniversary of Jakarta.

The one-day festival will take place along Jl. Kemang Utara as far as Jl. Kemang Selatan VIII between 9 a.m and 8 p.m. The road will therefore be closed to vehicles during the day.

The festival will feature a food festival, talent competition, games, a parade and a handicrafts exhibition. About 150 businesses in the area will participate in the festival.

Kemang is one of the city's most popular entertainment areas. Once known as an area occupied by the native Jakartan community, it is now home to many expatriates. -- JP
