Keepers struggle to contain animals

PASURUAN, East Java: Keepers at the Prigen Safari Park are being kept extra busy keeping the 1,000 animals inside the park as more than 500 meters of barbed wire and fences surrounding it have been stolen in the past two months.

Park official Eny Yuscefa told journalists that they had not been able to capture the culprit, but added that police were investigating the thefts.

"Because of it the Park has incurred losses of millions of rupiah," Eny said as quoted by Antara.

She did not say if many animals had wandered off out of the park but said officials were doing their best and closely monitoring the area to ensure there were no escapees.
