Kalla meets UMNO leaders

JAKARTA: Golkar Party leader Jusuf Kalla held talks with executives of Malaysian ruling party UMNO on Friday on ways to enhance ties between them.

Kalla, who is also the Vice President, was accompanied by Golkar top executives during the meeting. Malaysian foreign minister Da'to Seri Syed Hamid Albar led the 40-strong UMNO delegation during the visit to Indonesia.

Kalla considered the meeting important to improve relationships not only between the two parties but also between Indonesia and Malaysia.

"The ties have been there for a long time and will be developed further," Kalla said, adding that the two parties had similar experience of running government. -- JP
