KAI to up services with special seats

JAKARTA: Starting Aug. 3, state railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will provide special seats for pregnant women, breast-feeding mothers, the elderly and handicapped passengers aboard electric commuter trains serving Greater Jakarta.

"The program will commence along with new train schedules next month," PT KAI Greater Jakarta spokesman Akhmad Sujadi said on Monday.

Each car will have eight special seats marked with stickers and are to be in a different color from regular seats.

Since early this year, KAI has provided special cars for women, but many men also boarded the cars. -- Antara
