Kaban reports loggers to AGO

JAKARTA: Minister of Forestry MS Kaban reported 19 people to the Attorney General's Office on Friday for their alleged involvement in illegal logging.

The minister refused to identify the people, pending an investigation by prosecutors. He said he had asked prosecutors to put a travel ban on the 19 to prevent them from fleeing the country.

Kaban said the alleged illegal logging masterminds operated in North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra, Jambi, Kalimantan, Papua and Java.

The government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has vowed to reduce illegal logging in the country. -- JP
