Juvenile tuna theft in Bali

DENPASAR, Bali: Police arrested four teenagers on Thursday, suspected of stealing 180 kilograms of ready-to-export tuna fish from a storage facility at Bali's main port of Benoa, some 15 kilometers east of Denpasar.

Chief of the Benoa Police subprecinct Adj. Comm. Dede Alamsyah said the four suspects were aged between 16 and 17 years-old and were natives of East Java.

Dede said the four teenagers admitted that they entered the storage facility of PT Uni Mina Sari on Wednesday morning through an opening they made in the roof of the building.

They later sold the stolen fish, valued at Rp 30 million, at the Badung traditional market in downtown of Denpasar for only Rp 900,000.

Preliminary questioning also revealed that one of the suspects plotted the burglary after he was fired from the company on Tuesday.(zen)
