Justice Party visits villages

BOGOR, West Java: Local activists of the Justice Party (PK) held on Monday a "door-to-door" campaign in 19 villages in Tanah Sareal district, distributing flyers, holding bazaars and providing free medical services.

"Street rallies are not effective to get voters, they're only a show of might. Such convoys are watched by only 1 percent of a population at the most," said Jalaludin Prawira, the secretary of the local PK branch.

The public services were held in Kencana, Tanah Saerah and Tegal Gandil.

In the same city, supporters of the United Development Party (PPP), the National Mandate Party (PAN), PSII-1905, the Justice and Unity Party (PKP) and the Muslim Community Awakening Party (PKU) held street rallies on Monday.

Meanwhile, it was reported on Monday that 30 percent of the total 2,460 public transportation vehicles did not operate during the first six days of campaigning.

"The drivers and owners were afraid that unrest would break out and their vehicles damaged," said an official from the public transportation organization. (24)
