Juniors serve up trouble to Suwandi and Sulistyo
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian Davis Cup players Suwandi and
Sulistyo Wibowo struggled on the second day of the national
selection round robin matches at Senayan Tennis Complex before
overcoming their opponents.
Suwandi lost to junior Djanuar Radjab in the first set but
fought back to win 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to lead men's Group C.
Samsudin Pare came second after beating Mulyadi 6-0, 7-5.
In group D, doubles specialist Sulistyo Wibowo had a battle to
beat East Timor's Sebastian da Costa, who joined the Davis Cup
team last year, 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4.
Semarang newcomer Yusmawan Fahmi won against Stanley Sanger 6-
4, 6-4.
Andrian Raturandang also had to work hard in the first set to
beat Surya Wijaya 7-6 (7-1), 6-0 in group B. Edo Bawono beat
Marco Sitepu 6-1, 6-2.
Old hand Bonit Wiryawan overcame Donny Susetyo 6-4, 6-3 to
lead Group A. Veteran Suhendar Dinata beat Harijadi Lesmana 6-2,
4-6, 7-6 (7-4).
In the women's matches, top seed Wynne Prakusya had no trouble
disposing of Frederika Girsang 6-0, 6-0 to lead Group B. Agustine
Limanto took second place after beating 6-2, 6-0 against Zenaeda
Sumedi.
Federation Cup player Eny Sulistyowati crushed Asri Nursanti
Ebo 6-4, 6-2 to top Group D. Veteran Irawati M Iskandar, who lost
to Eny on the opening day, beat junior Marieke Gunawan 6-3, 6-1.
Liza Andriyani, who is studying at the Van der Meer tennis
camp in South Carolina, upset Federation Cup player Mimma
Chernovita 6-1, 6-1. Liza, who joined the Federation Cup team
last year, finished first in Group C. Lianasari Batubara beat
sister Nuraeni Batubara 6-3, 6-2.
Wukirasih Sawondari led Group A after beating Mudarwati 6-3,
6-2. Vinca Rampen had to work hard to beat Evi Murtiningsih 3-6,
6-4, 6-0.
Eight men and eight women will be chosen to represent
