Judge's trial postponed

JAKARTA: A state prosecutor failed on Thursday to present a sentencing request for Jakarta High Court judge Fauzatulo Zendrato, who is being tried for bribery.

Prosecutor Agus Sutoto told the Central Jakarta District Court that he had not yet prepared the demand and asked the court for an extension until Jan. 3 next year.

The request was granted.

Zendrato, 51, is accused of receiving Rp 550 million in bribes from state-owned PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (PT SIER), which appealed two land dispute cases before the Supreme Court.

The defendant was head of the appeals division of the Supreme Court when the alleged bribery took place in 1999.--JP
