Judges trained, hearings postponed

JAKARTA: A two-day annual training for judges that started Monday at the Supreme Court had forced the Central Jakarta District Court to postpone the hearings of two class action hearings.

The first case was based on the suit filed by flood victims against the city administration and the government while the second one was the battle between five train passengers, who are victims of a train accident in Brebes, Central Java, against the state-owned railway station PT KAI.

About half of 137 judges of the five district courts here and the Jakarta High Court attended the training at the Supreme Court. The rest will join the same training for the next two days.

Some hearings would be postponed due to the training, including the hearing of former chief of the State Logistics Agency Rahardi Ramelan at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday as well as the hearing of Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday. --JP
