Judges' results to be announced

JAKARTA: The Supreme Court is expected to announce on May 10 the results of the written examinations sat by 179 candidates who applied to be appointed as ad hoc judges of the anticorruption courts in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Surabaya.

"Those who pass the examinations will have to sit a psychological test in Jakarta," Suparno, the Supreme Court's legal and judicial director, said on Wednesday.

There were originally 188 applications for the judgeships, but nine candidates failed to turn up to sit the written examinations. The Supreme Court is seeking only 16 ad hoc judges to fill vacancies at the first instance, high court and Supreme Court levels. -- JP
