JP/5/JAPAN Lampung to build geothermal plant BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: The Lampung provincial government will soon build a geothermal power plant in Tanggamus, a project that had been hanging in limbo for two years, an official says.

The construction will materialize after Japan pledged to provide a Rp 1.5 trillion (US$167 million) loan to the provincial government, provincial development head Harris Hasyim said.

The amount was part of a Japanese loan commitment to Indonesia amounting to US$1.07 billion. The loan would be used to finance 10 infrastructure projects, including the plant. -- JP
