JP/7/TOLL

Traffic jams near vihara

On Sept. 11, 2003, while in a taxi from Grogol, we took the toll road heading toward the Ancol Barat/Mangga Dua exit.

We could see from the toll road that the road before the Ancol Barat exit, which lies in front of the Buddhist Vihara Indonesia, was jammed with the parked cars of temple visitors. The vehicles occupied two lanes, starting from only a few meters from the exit of the toll road, right up to the vihara.

If this is a regular "full moon" prayer event, a notice should be prepared in advance by the vihara management to inform the toll road management and traffic police about the ceremony. Consequently, the toll road management could warn drivers about the possibility of congestion at the Ancol Barat exit so that they could take suitable avoiding action.
