Two women share love and death of beloved in "Intersection"

JAKARTA (JP): After 14 years, brilliant architect Vincent Eastman (Richard Gere) finds out that married life with his business partner Sally (Sharon Stone) lacks warmth and ardor, "a corporation with a child," as he says.

He has arrived at a crossroads where he must make a difficult choice: to stay with his beautiful wife and 13-year-old daughter (Jenny Morrison as Meaghan) or to leave them for another woman (Olivia, played by Lolita Davidovich).

Sally, feeling neglected, also has an affair and Vincent eventually finds he still loves her. The film is Intersection, directed by Mark Rydell, of On Golden Pond fame.

Although aware of her husband's affair, Sally refrains from launching an all-out offensive. She goes about as if nothing has gone awry. She refuses to give in each time he is in an amorous mood.

Only Olivia, a journalist on the rise, knows exactly what she wants.

Vincent does not live to solve his dilemma as a tragic accident ends his life, leaving each woman convinced that she is the only one he loves.

What merits mention is Rydell's highly effective use of flashbacks, not necessarily in consecutive order, to relate the events of the story.
