containing pebbles from the dry Batang Kurangi river in Lambung
Bukit, Padang, West Sumatra. They sell the pebbles for between Rp
300 and Rp 150 per bucket to brokers, and children earn up to Rp
2,750 each day. These students from poor families engage in such
work over their month-long school holiday.
