Many physicians work as beauty advisors

JAKARTA (JP): Tough competition among physicians practicing in
Jakarta and its surrounding areas has forced some of them to work
for additional income as beauty advisors at cosmetics stores.

Some doctors, who do the side job at a popular shopping mall
in Bekasi, 30 kilometers east of here, told Antara news agency on
Sunday that there is nothing inappropriate with the moonlighting.

Dr. Indah said she and her colleagues work at the stores two
hours a day twice a week.

"We adjust our activities there to our working days at
hospitals or clinics," she said.

Indah declined to mention how much she earned from the part-
time job but claimed that the money was enough to compensate for
the low salary she receives from her main job.

"I took the job since it is still relevant to my profession,"
Indah said.

Meanwhile Martha Tilaar, a businesswoman specializing in
cosmetics, said that the doctors advise customers with skin
problems. (05)
