Islamic school
building destroyed
INDONESIA: Hundreds of people stormed an Islamic boarding school
building in Tulungagung, East Java on Monday night. No injuries
have were reported in the incident. Angry masses leveled the
building to the ground after hearing reports that the school
principal, Mus, 53, had sexual relations with four of his female
students, with one of them falling pregnant and having a baby.
Chief of Tulungagung police detectives Adj. Comr. Supardi
Astiko said on Saturday that he had deployed 100 police personnel
to prevent the dispute from escalating.
The incident began when a female student gave birth to a baby
in the boarding school dormitory on Friday afternoon. Other
students questioned her over who was responsible for the baby,
and the student pointed to Mus. Having broken the silence, three
other female students revealed that they also had sexual
relations with Mus. The story then spread quickly, sparking anger
of local residents. The school principal is being questioned by
the police. -- Antara

DIS celebrates
new toll road
INDONESIA: Celebrating the completion of the Jl. Ampera toll road
connecting South Jakarta to Tangerang, the German International
School (Deutsche Internationale Schule, DIS) will hold a
motorcade on Sunday along the new highway.
The toll road was completed on May 5.
The school says the toll road will help DIS students avoid the
annoying traffic congestion along Jl. Deplu Raya to reach the
campus in Bumi Serpong Damai that has plagued them for eight
years.
"During those years, DIS students (collectively) spent a total
of 380,000 hours, or 43 years, stuck in traffic jams. Now, we are
all grateful because it now takes only 12 minutes," the school
management said.
Motorists are invited to join the motorcade. The feast
afterwards at the school compound will only be for school
management, students and parents. -- JP
