The country's first direct presidential election campaign
which starts on Tuesday will last a whole month after a "warm-up"
provided by the maneuvers of politicians and political parties,
and polls suggesting the degree of popularity of all candidates.
Yet it is the people who will determine their fate on July 5. The
Jakarta Post is dedicating special reports for the campaign
period, and the following is a brief profile of each candidate
and his or her running mate.
