Bomb rocks Poso KPU office

A low explosive bomb went off precisely behind the office of the Poso General Elections Commission (KPU) in Central Sulawesi on Tuesday night, but no injuries were reported.

Despite the explosion, activity in the troubled regency remained normal, said Poso Regent Andi Azikin Suyuti.

He claimed that the bomb was post-election terror perpetrated by irresponsible people.

The regency has just held direct elections, and the candidate pair of Piet Inkiriwang and Abdul Muthalib were leading the provisional tally.

Contacted separately from Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi, deputy chief of Poso police Ricky Naldo said that the situation was under control. -- JP
