JP/12/Moulin

Now playing

Moulin Rouge (Romance/Musical/Comedy, 122 minutes). Starring Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor, John Leguizamo, Jim Broadbent, Richard Roxburgh. Directed by Baz Luhrmann.

An English writer named Christian (Mc Gregor) decides to come to Paris at the close of the 19th century, where a new type of entertainment has just been born.

He gets a job as a writer after a narcoleptic actor falls through his roof after his narcolepsy strikes again during a rehearsal for a play called "Spectacular, Spectacular."

The group leader sets Christian to meet a beautiful courtesan from the infamous Moulin Rouge, a landmark music hall in the center of the Paris district of Montmartre.

The courtesan, Satine, is immediately attracted to Christian, after mistaking him for a wealthy duke (Richard Roxburgh).

They will soon be dancing on the clouds over the Eiffel tower, with stardust falling all around them, and a moon with a smiling moustached-face watching them.

Splashed with almost all of the colors of the spectrum, Moulin Rouge is a real spectacle, a fresh, electrifying and wildly entertaining film.****
