John Lennon offers support

It is interesting to read Mr. Vleugels's letter (The Jakarta Post, May 25; Letter misunderstood) in response to some readers' reactions to his previous letter proposing a president without religion for Indonesia (published in the Post on May 12).

I would only like to comment that his case is just a matter of luck. Mr. Vleugels was unlucky that, only several days after his proposal, he had no other choice but to respond comprehensively to the opposing opinions.

On the contrary, for years here I have been able to freely and joyfully listen to Imagine, the legendary song by John Lennon, in which he actually hoped to see people in the world with no religion. It is not clear to me if the United Nations ever tried to ban this masterpiece.

Mr. Vleugels' case is more proof that Lennon is really not the only one, as he melodiously sung. At last, I also support Mr. Vleugels' last letter's last paragraph, as a kind of warranty that I will continue to be able to freely enjoy listening to the evergreen Imagine while reading the Post.
