Jogjakarta Plaza gives education aid

YOGYAKARTA: In observance of National Education Day on May 2,
2005, the Jogjakarta Plaza Hotel on Jl Gejayan made a donation to
the state SDN Pangukrejo elementary school in Cangkringan,
Sleman.

The grant of more than Rp 7 million was given in the form of
cash, textbooks and scholarships for 10 of the school's 91
students.

Hotel general manager Yungke Wibowo and executive assistant
manager Dodhy Achadiyat delivered the donation on Monday, while
PT Nestle distributed free milk and gifts to the students.

"The donation was collected through the Plaza Educational
Living, or Paket Peduli, program that we offered to our guests
from January to April 2005," Yungke said. The program was part
of the hotel's commitment to the local community, he said.

SDN Pangukrejo was selected because it was among the region's
poorest schools in terms of its physical condition and parents'
per capita incomes, he said --JP
