Jobless man nabbed for raping sisters

JAKARTA (JP): Central Jakarta police have arrested a 22-year- old man for allegedly raping his girlfriend and her younger sister.

Unemployed Ahmad was apprehended at his rented house on Jl. Pacenongan on Sunday evening after the girls' father filed a report with the Gambir police subprecinct a day earlier.

City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said yesterday that Ahmad's lover, identified only as Kom, 18, reported to her father that her boyfriend had sexually abused her and raped her younger sister, Ai, 16, on Thursday.

Kom told her father that Ahmad had also frequently raped her. Ahmad also liked anal sex, Kom said, adding that she had been afraid to report the case as the man threatened to punch or torture her.

"The two girls went to their father on Saturday after being locked up for two days by Ahmad in his room in a two-story building. It is also the two victims' quarters where a room has been made available for them by their employer," Iman said.

The two worked as score girls at a billiard hall near their rented room on Jl. Pacenongan. The girls' homevillage, Bojong Gede, near Bogor, is far away from their working place, Iman said.

Ahmad also rented a room in the building while looking for a job, the officer said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect came to see Ai, who was sick in her room, at around 9 p.m. on Thursday.

"Pretending to help her, Ahmad made a cup of hot milk and another cup of jamu (traditional herbal tonic) for Ai," Iman said. "Ahmad then hugged and rubbed the weak girl."

"In the beginning, Ai tried to resist by landing a blow on the suspect's face but later became defenseless when Ahmad pointed a pair of scissors at her face," Iman said.

A few hours later, Kom entered the room after finishing work and was told about the incident by her sister.

"Knowing that the girls wanted to report the case to the police, Ahmad quickly warned the girls not to leave their room," Iman said.

However, the girls were able to escape on Saturday morning, and rushed immediately to their parents in Bogor.

"During a preliminary questioning session, the suspect has admitted all the charges," Iman said.

If found guilty, the jobless man could face a maximum punishment of 12 years in jail. (bsr)
