Job-seekers smuggling foiled
SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: Police in Tarakan, near the border with Malaysia, foiled an attempt to smuggle 50 Indonesian job- seekers into the neighboring country on Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Tarakan police precinct, First Lt. Rudi Hartono, said three men were arrested on suspicion of trying to smuggle the job-seekers.
He said police found it difficult to control the manpower traffic in Tarakan because brokers cleverly arrange the job- seekers' transfer to Malaysia.
The 50 illegal job-seekers recruited from East Java, South Kalimantan and East Nusa Tenggara will be sent home, Antara reported. (pan)
