Job seeker killed by thug

JAKARTA (JP): A young man looking for work in Jakarta was murdered by an unidentified hoodlum at a bus shelter in front of Cempaka Mas Apartment on Jl. Letjen Suprapto, Central Jakarta, late on Monday.

Kemayoran police subprecinct chief Adj. Comr. Herry Rodolf Nahak said Ibut Wahyudin, 19, was stabbed twice in the stomach by the hoodlum while waiting for a bus with his friend, Rudi, 20.

Both men had just arrived in the city from their village of Compreng in Cirebon, West Java, to find construction work in the capital.

The culprit approached both men and requested a cigarette. After being given a cigarette he then took a knife from his pocket and asked for money.

"If you take our money, how will eat later," Rudi quoted Wahyudin's response. The man became enraged by the response and then stabbed Wahyudin. The murderer fled the scene as Wahyudin collapsed and died in Rudi's arms.(01)
