Job quota

The momentum seems right for me to write after your two articles on the disabled (The Jakarta Post, May 26, 1996, and June 22, 1996). As an organization which cares about its social responsibility, PT Armo Cipta Intersarana, under the Ariobimo Group undertaking the renovation of Taman Ria Senayan (TRS), has establish an unprecedented disabled employees quota. The program is based on the belief there is no reason why disabled people cannot perform certain jobs as well as their able-bodied counterparts. TRS will extend the equal employment opportunity to disabled people who fulfill the basic job prerequisites.

The company will soon hire 400 employees to prepare the leisure park for its expected opening in December. To assure the effectiveness of its policy, TRS has set a 3 percent hiring quota this year. It will be upgraded to 4 percent in the second year, and 5 percent in the following years.

We would be very grateful if concerned parties could assist us in implementing the policy by supplying us the right candidates either in administrative or operational fields. Please write to: Human Resources Manager, Taman Ria Senayan, P.O. Box 4240 JKTM, Jakarta 12042.

Meanwhile, let's hope other companies will follow suit in securing our less fortunate citizens their basic rights and providing them with a better place to live.
