Jl. Thamrin to be closed temporarily

JAKARTA (JP): Part of Jl. Thamrin, one of the city's main thoroughfares, will be temporarily closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday and Friday due to the construction of a pedestrian bridge in front of the Landmark building.

The city land transportation agency was quoted by Antara as saying on Tuesday that the affected part of the road began at the Jl. Tanjung Karang intersection up to the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle.

To avoid traffic jams, the agency suggested those who pass the street from the north use Jl. Imam Bonjol, while those from the south go along Jl. Tanjung Karang.

"We urge drivers to avoid the location and to obey traffic signs and police officers' directions," said U. Pristono M.T., an official of the agency. (ind)
