Jl. Thamrin fountain renovated

JAKARTA: Residents here can expect the Hotel Indonesia roundabout on Jl.M.H. Thamrin to become a little more aesthetically pleasing after the city administration announced plans to renovate the fountain in the center of the roundabout, at a cost of Rp 14 billion (US$ 1.4 million).

The funds are being provided by a private company, PT Media Indra Buana, which will be allowed to display outdoor advertisements in six locations here over the next three to five years, the city park agency head, Maurits Napitupulu said.

He expected the renovations to be completed before the city's anniversary on June 22. After the renovations, the fountain will be able to display water patterns.

Anticipating rallies at the well-known demonstration site, Maurits said the administration would erect a boundary around the roundabout. --JP
