JICA chief Ogata to visit Banda Aceh

JAKARTA: The president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Sadako Ogata will visit tsunami-affected areas in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) on Friday, the JICA office in Jakarta announced.

Ogata -- the former United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) -- will visit Banda Aceh and Krueng River and its nearby areas in order to get first hand information on the level of destruction and the on-going reconstruction and rehabilitation programs, JICA said in a press release sent to The Jakarta Post.

JICA is a Japanese government organization that provides technical and grant assistance to developing countries, including Indonesia. -- JP
