Jewelry robber suspects sought

JAKARTA (JP): Ciracas Police detectives are searching for suspects behind a robbery on Sunday night at a house in the Cibubur Indah II housing complex, East Jakarta.

Robbers got away with a safe containing gold and diamond jewelry worth some Rp 200 million (US$26,700).

East Jakarta Police chief Col. Hidayat Fabanxio said on Monday the suspects had broken into the empty house via a side door.

"The owner of the house, Ratna Sari, the chief of neighborhood unit 008, was not home then. The robbery occurred at about 11 p.m. on Sunday," Hidayat told reporters.

The suspects, he said, took the safe containing the victim's gold necklaces, gold bangles, gold rings, diamond earrings, cash up to Rp 200,000 and important documents.(ylt)
