Jetskiing joins waterskiing body

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia Jetski Association (IJSI) executive
director Ishak said on Tuesday the association would become part
of the Indonesian Waterskiing Association (PSASI) in January.

Ishak said IJSI had yet to be acknowledged by the National
Sports Council (KONI) and it was required to become affiliated
with another organization before gaining accreditation.

Jetskiing will make its competition debut at the 15th National
Games (PON) in Surabaya in June.

In an effort to promote the sport, IJSI will stage a two-week
cruise from Marina Beach in Ancol, North Jakarta, to Singapore
and Bangkok, Thailand. Taking part will be 30 jetskiers from the
three countries, with an Indonesian frigate providing protection
for the trip. (yan)
