Jealous cop's wife shoots husband

BOGOR (JP): In an apparent fit of jealousy, a 32-year-old policeman's wife, Siti Jubaedah, shot her husband, Sgt. Maj. Slamet Tunjang Suryanto, at the couple's house in Kedung Halang, North Bogor, in the small hours of Wednesday.

Slamet was rushed to Kramatjati Police Hospital in East Jakarta for gunshot injuries to his abdomen and back.

An officer at the Brimob dormitory said the couple had been engaged in an overnight quarrel before the incident took place.

Siti was reportedly upset because her husband frequently came home drunk, with a scent of perfume on his uniform.

The couple fought until about midnight before Siti took a revolver and shot her husband from a distance of about 1.5 meters, the officer said.

The bullet hit the left side of Slamet's abdomen and went through his back.

"Slamet then fell to the floor and his wife started screaming frantically," the policeman, who asked not to be named, said.

Slamet was rushed to Kramatjati Hospital from his home in the National Police's Mobile Brigade (Brimob) compound at about 4 a.m. on Wednesday after being treated at Salak Hospital in Bogor.

The case is being handled by North Bogor Police. (21/edt)
