JBIC to hold study on traffic
JAKARTA: The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) will hold a study on urban transportation, the results of which can be used to find a solution to the capital's chronic traffic.
JBIC, in cooperation with the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), held a workshop on Thursday presenting three consulting firms, one of which is to be appointed to conduct the study.
JBIC chief representative in Jakarta, Ikuro Sato, said that the winning consulting firm would carry out the study until February 2005. During the study, the consultant would organize more workshops to garner feedback from road users.
The workshop was attended by representatives of various stakeholders like the central government, the city administration, donor institutions, non-governmental organizations, and transportation experts.--JP
