Jayapura traffic lights out

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: Residents here are urging the local City Land Transportation Agency (DLLAJ) to repair the traffic lights throughout the city which had not been functioning for the past month, as a result of which many traffic jams and accidents had occurred.

The latest accident happened at the Kotaraja intersection last week when a motorcycle driver was killed in a crash involving two public transportation vehicles, Antara reported.

Police often help by directing traffic until 3 p.m., but on Saturdays they are only on duty in the morning.

The DLLAJ and police, however, could not be reached for comment.(hdn)
