Jayapura school made best
JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: Governor Jacob Pattipi pledged Saturday to make the Jayapura Technic Academy the best technical institute in the eastern territory.
The academy has mulled over cooperation with the two prestigious technical institutes in Surabaya in a bid to produce professional middle-class technicians.
Pattipi, who chairs the Bineka Tunggal Ika Foundation that manages the academy, said he was optimistic that his ambition might come true because the central government is giving greater attention to human resource development in the eastern province.
President Soeharto in April donated a set of sophisticated laboratory equipment worth Rp 570 million (US$230,000) to the academy, Antara reported. (pan)
