Japanese man dies in Bali
DENPASAR, Bali: A 40-year-old Japanese tourist died after
being dragged along by the water current while he was swimming on
Thursday.
Mikkio Yamaguchi died after he was carried away by a strong
current as he was swimming at the famous Kuta beach area, Antara
reported on Saturday.
Yamaguchi, whose body was found lying on the beach on Thursday
afternoon, swam in the dangerous area despite prohibition
warnings placed there by the authorities.
A security guard said some tourists had often swum in the
dangerous zones unguarded and the guards, whose number was
limited, could not oversee their activities.
Yamaguchi was the third foreigner to die on this resort island
this month, or the 21st since January. The other two foreigners
who died here this month are Taiwanese Khu Wi Ming, 55, and Kris
Berger Margarete, 58, an Austrian. (imn)
