Japan rebuilds elementary school
JAKARTA: The Japanese government handed over to Sukabumi Regent Maman Sulaeman on Tuesday an elementary school building it reconstructed through a grassroots grant aid.
An official at the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia, Shigekazu Sato, said education was a basic human right that all children should enjoy, as they were the future of a nation.
The Japanese government extended a total of US$69,752 in assistance last January to rebuild the school, located in Cibodas district, which was destroyed by strong winds. The grant was also used to purchase school equipment. -- JP
