Jambi waits for caretaker governor

JAMBI, Jambi: Governor Zulkifli Nurdin may have ended his five-year term on Friday, but he is still in office waiting for central government to appoint a caretaker to replace him.

It is not clear when the Ministry of Home Affairs would name an acting governor for the province.

The caretaker is set to serve until June, when Jambi gets a new governor through a first-ever direct election.

Zulkifli, running for the National Mandate Party, plans to contest the election. --JP
