Jamaica and Panama have new ambassadors

JAKARTA (JP): President Soeharto received the credentials of the new Panamanian Ambassador Ivan G. Gonzalez and Jamaican Earl Alexander Carr here yesterday.

The President stressed the need for Indonesia, Panama and Jamaica to improve their bilateral relations, especially in trade and economy.

Indonesia and Jamaica, Soeharto said, have tremendous potential to step up their economic, trade, technological, agricultural and sociocultural relations.

"Jamaica and Indonesia as fellow members of the Non-Aligned Movement need to strengthen their relations to materialize the New World order we all aspire for," he said.

The President praised the Panama government's mediatory role in conflicts in parts of Central America.

On hand at the ceremony were Coordinating Minister of Political Affairs and Security Soesilo Soedarman and Minister/State Secretary Moerdiono. (pan)
