Jaksa to jive with art fest

JAKARTA: The Central Jakarta municipal administration is to open the Jl. Jaksa Street Art Festival next week in commemoration of the capital's 477th anniversary that fell on June 22.

The festival will feature various traditional dances of the Betawi, or native Jakartan, culture.

A colossal painting contest on a 200-meter length of cloth will highlight the event, said administration spokesman Yamin Abdullah on the city's official online news portal, beritajakarta.com. -- JP
