Jakarta to host baseball meet
JAKARTA (JP): Ten countries from the Asia-Pacific region are expected to take part in the Far East Little League Baseball championships to be held here July 29 to Aug. 7.
Indonesia will be represented by Jakarta Little League. The team finished fifth in last year's championships held in Taipei, which was a great success for Indonesia as the team was made up of mainly local players and only a few Japanese and American boys.
The Jakarta Little League team was established by Jakarta- Japan Community and Jakarta International School in 1982.
The Asia-Pacific championships are an annual event with the regular players being China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Guam and Indonesia. All are expected to take part in the July-August event, an official of the Jakarta league announced yesterday.
The championships are to select a team to represent the region for the world championships in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. (rsl).
